Education for Change

My Social Worker profile

An aspiring Social Worker who values human dignity and worth and Social Justice. Using the Anti-Oppression framework. Group Work focusing on listening and empowerment. Advocating for LGBTQ2+ youth and their allies, as they work together for social change!

Why I made this site

I started this site because I believe in the power of expression through writing. I was bullied as a child. It was so hard on my self-esteem. Writing poetry, reading poetry and music, all helped me to get through those tough times. It allowed me to build confidence in myself and realize that I was powerful, even though others tried to make me feel powerless. I want to pursue Social Work and when I have my BSW, I want to start a creative writing class for youth, with an emphasis on the LGBTQ2+ community.

I chose the Anti-Oppression framework for my Social Work profile, I believe that education and creativity can help the oppressed LGBTQ2+ community.

My goal would be to have an integrated setting of LGBTQ2+ students and heterosexual students. It would be great way to to learn and express themselves as a cohesive group.

I believe education is key in social change!

I would love my classmates to give me some feedback in regards to some personal stories, some creative writing ideas, or even just to say “hi”.

Thank you so much!

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
